Driftless by David Rhodes
The crime/thriller moment is passing for me and I wasn't finding anything good to read until a friend recommended this book. It is the most beautiful and lyrical writing i've read since perhaps The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell. When I experience the beauty of wisconsin by living it in all its seasons, it is a challenge to find prose matching my awareness of just how grand it is. I have found that in this story.
